Qm

Method of moments for a geometric waiting count

A market maker sends quotes one at a time until one gets hit, then starts over. The number of quotes needed each round (counting the one that gets hit) behaves like a geometric random variable on 1,2,3,1, 2, 3, \dots with unknown hit probability pp. Across many rounds the average number of quotes per hit is 55.

Use the method of moments to estimate pp.
