Correlation between overlapping coin-flip counts

Asked at Two Sigma, DE Shaw

A fair coin is flipped 100100 times. Let H50H_{50} be the number of heads in the first 5050 flips and H100H_{100} the number of heads in all 100100 flips.

What is the correlation between H50H_{50} and H100H_{100}?

Show a hint

Write H100=H50+GH_{100} = H_{50} + G where GG counts heads in the second 50 flips, independent of H50H_{50}.
