Which matchbox empties first when they start unequal?

Asked at SIG

A smoker's left box starts with 22 matches and his right box starts with 33. Each reach chooses a pocket with probability 12\tfrac12, independently, and he draws until he reaches into a pocket and finds the box empty.

What is the probability the left box is the one discovered empty, and how many matches tend to remain in the loser?

Show a hint

For the left box to be discovered empty with kk left in the right, count sequences of the 22 left draws and 3k3-k right draws, then one final left reach. Sum over kk.
